One of our favourite lunch spots in Sea Point is a Chinese restaurant called Tao Yung, just across the road from the stunning Sea Point pools. We spend a lot of time at the pools, and don’t need much of an excuse to pop across for lunch.
The menu is comprehensive as you would expect from a Chinese restaurant, but I have to admit I’ve only ever eaten two things there – the sizzling kingklip and the special fried rice. Okay, I don’t go there that often and yes they are that good and eaten together, shared between two, make the perfect light lunch.

We sit outside in the little garden under one of the huge umbrellas, breathing in the sea air while we wait in anticipation for our tasty meal. It couldn’t be more relaxed
Seriously, you should go there just for the kingklip – I’ve been doing so for years and it always satisfies.
Tao Yung is at 275A Beach Road, Sea Point.
