Review: Tasty spice pods from The Spice Pioneer

How I love anything that makes cooking easier. So I was delighted to try these fabulous spice pods from The Spice Pioneer. They source the best herbs and spices from reliable suppliers and package them up to specific recipes so you’re ready to go. Delivered to your door, there’s a choice of five combos to  make tasty dishes, and above all with absolutely no hassle.

What’s cooking?

Each pod contains the spice mix for the dish and here’s a handy recipe on the back. So all you have to do is get the rest of the ingredients and get cooking. Choose from Chicken Lollipops, Katsu Curry, Peri-Peri Chicken, Fajitas and Chilli con Carne.

I made the Chicken Lollipops. Simply follow the recipe on the back and make the marinade using the contents of the spice pod and other listed ingredients. Mix in the chicken and leave to marinate for at least 15 minutes (I left the chicken for several hours). Then thread the chicken pieces onto the skewers and grill.

I served them up with a tomato and cucumber salad, hummus, tsatsiki and flatbreads, which made for a thoroughly delicious combination.

And I also made the Katsu sauce which was surprisingly easy and came out smooth and thick and tasted completely authentic.

And finally each spice pod cost £1.99.
