Keep Hangovers at Bay with Nashi Pear Juice

So I’ve just got back from my latest cruise. We sailed on Wind Star from Rome to Barcelona, visiting islands in the Mediterranean along the way – including Elba, Corsica, Menorca, and Mallorca. For most of them (excluding Mallorca) it was my first visit – and I loved them all.

As much as I love the cruising itself. And this time I’d brought along a little something to make the experience even better, a magic new drink – or so they told me.

Nashi pear juice is packed with antioxidants and nutrients from 100% Korean pears which help to support alcohol breakdown. Studies suggest that Korean pears can help with alcohol metabolism, helping the body break down toxic by-products more efficiently and even reducing inflammation. The natural enzymes get to work while you’re drinking, helping your body flush out the toxins produced by alcohol. Sounds good to me – and I love their slogan “Don’t lose tomorrow.”

What better place to test out this miraculous-sounding concoction than on a cruise? Especially one where we had the “all-in” drinks package.

The Verdict

I drank the pear juice before going down for pre-dinner drinks – it tastes delicious unlike some ‘health’ drinks. It was a typical cruising night with wine at dinner and a couple of post-dinner drinks with friends in the lounge being entertained by the onboard singing duo. Not a particularly late night but one to remember, and the cocktails and wine were flowing.

I woke up the next morning feeling suspiciously fresh – pretty much like I hadn’t had a night out at all. Hangovers are capricious creatures; you never know what you’re going to get, but I feel my pear juice consumption certainly had something to do with my clear head and lack of dehydration. Well, consuming it certainly couldn’t hurt. Why don’t you try it for yourself? Here’s a picture of it on my cruise just because I have one!

Nashi pear juice costs £19.99 for a six-pack.
