Today I’m heading down the road for a real lunchtime treat. The Bungalow sits in prime position between Clifton and Camps Bay with stunning views of the Twelve Apostles, Lion’s Head and across the sparkling Atlantic Ocean. It’s a beautiful picture in blues and whites with a real beach house vibe.
The Bungalow describes itself as a restaurant and lounge. There are several different areas, including a lovely bar and lounge so if you don’t want to eat you can take advantage of the fabulous cocktail list and watch the stylish people of Cape Town in fascination. We were, however, heading for some food.
What’s on the menu
The menu takes a bit of perusing with its comprehensive range of sushi, seafood and fish as well as burgers and meatier options. We decided to share a plate of crispy prawns served with a lemon aioli. I really wished I’d ordered one for myself – they were so plump, perfectly crisp and tasty.

Sometimes you really feel like a salad or some sushi – that was me on this beautifully sunny day. And as luck would have it, there was a sushi salad on the menu so I could do both! What a feast – with seared tuna, shrimp, salmon, greens, red cabbage, edamame, avocado, red onion dressed in the tastiest of zesty miso dressings and scattered with sesame seeds.

The griddled beef burger on a fresh sesame bun and piled high with smoked Gouda, red onion, pickles, coleslaw and burger sauce was rich and juicy. And with a delightful salad, too.

It’s my first visit to The Bungalow and I’m predicting the first of many. The location is just so fabulous, it makes my heart sing just thinking about it. Enjoy the views.
