4 Fun Ways to Explore the UK

The UK has some amazing locations and areas of outstanding natural beauty. From The Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland to The Lake District, the island of Anglesey in Wales, and the ever-popular yet outstandingly breathtaking Loch Ness in Scotland, there is much to be explored and admired within the UK.

Travelling the UK, however, doesn’t need to be boring. Getting to your destination or destinations can be just as much fun as where you’re visiting, and finding fun and unique ways to explore the country can enable you to get the most out of your travels, whether you’re on a month-long adventure or a quick weekend jaunt.

Need some inspiration, this post is for you.

Motorhome

Motorhomes aren’t new to the UK, and people have been driving their own accommodations around the city for years to enjoy little getaways. But with #vanlife taking on a whole new life of its own in recent years, the idea of renting or buying a motorhome to travel as you wish and on your own schedule can ignite a sense of freedom and adventure. It’s a completely new way to appreciate the country. If it’s your first time travelling this way, there are some things you need to know when renting a motorhome, including features, size, restrictions and laws; however, it’s a great option for anyone who is inclined to get away and explore the UK.

Train Travel

The UK train network isn’t always thought of favourably, but if you are not commuting, simply getting to and from your destination can be a relaxing and scenic route from A to B. You can take daytime trains or enhance your experience by booking an overnight train like The Caledonian Sleeper or the Great Western Railway’s Night Riviera Sleeper to make it more of an adventure without wasting your days on a train.

Canal Boats

Narrowboat travel is one of the calmest, most relaxing ways to amble around the country. There are many canal networks you can choose from, and you can purchase or rent a narrowboat to meander the network and enjoy your travels. This isn’t for those wanting a fast-paced or high-octane experience; it’s for people wanting a more relaxed way of life and to see the countryside in all its tranquil glory. Whether you visit different canals throughout the year or plan one long trip across the country, this is definitely an experience you shouldn’t miss when wanting to explore the UK some more.

Coach Trip

Coach trips aren’t just for senior citizens anymore, and the coaching industry is seeing somewhat of a resurgence of coach travel for both short and overnight trips as well as extended stays. The beauty of coach trips is that you can buy a pre-booked package and travel with other like-minded people, making it ideal for social butterflys or solo travellers.

You might not experience the craziness of the guests on Channel 4’s Coach Trip series, but you can get to see different parts of the country in all their glory, and you don’t need to drive or do much organising outside of where you want to visit. It’s a stress-free way to explore the UK and connect with others.
