My latest Covent Garden discovery: 21

I spend a lot of time in Covent Garden. So imagine my surprise when I discovered a “new” bar called 21 in the heart of the Piazza, only to be told that it has been there for 30 years! Oops. Goes to show, you can’t know everything. Must work on that.

Anyway, the good news is that 21 is now firmly on my radar. Set over three floors it’s a great spot for a drink – especially upstairs where there’s a fantastic bar with two balconies – heated and covered with umbrellas, so great for all weather. The perfect place to survey the goings on in the Piazza from on high. Love being a tourist in my own town.

Then there’s the vaulted cellar restaurant, warm and cosy for chillier days. The menu is Italian and includes a range of smaller dishes, sharing boards of meat and cheese, salads, pastas and pizzas to choose from. At the moment they are doing four tapas-size dishes for £13.95. Great value.
