Jamie Oliver at Gatwick

I hate rushing through airports, it stresses me out and makes me grumpy, so the beginning of my holiday feels like a real chore. As a result I end up spending quite a bit more time in them than most people, trying to find ways to make the experience as positive as possible. When we went to Spain recently we decided to go even earlier so we could relax and have lunch at the airport. Okay, doesn’t sound like such a great eating experience but give us credit for trying!

What a surprise we got! Gatwick North terminal now has a Jamie’s Italian. It opened a couple of months ago and is so well designed you really don’t feel like you’re sitting in an airport. And the food is really, really good.

The menu has a variety of lovely antipasti dishes, a range of pastas with fresh pasta made every day on-site, as well as meat and fish dishes. Terry had the tagliatelle bolognese which was delicious while I went for the putanesca – tomato sauce, chilli, anchovies, capers and olives which was amazing. Pastas come in small and large portions, I had the small which was plenty for me and only cost £6.25. Great value.

If you’re passing through Gatwick North, I’d really recommend you go a bit earlier, take the stress out of your airport experience and enjoy a lovely Italian meal.

Well done Jamie, you got our holiday off to the best possible start!

Does this look like an airport restaurant?

I really love your blog.. Excellent colors & theme.
Did you create this amazing site yourself?
Please reply back as I’m planning to create my very own website and would love to find out where you got this from or what the theme is named. Thank you!

Thanks very much for your kind words. Yes, I have done it all myself and it is still very new…so I am planning to develop it even more. WordPress (the system I’ve created it on) has lots of different ideas for a basic layout or you can pay for something more complicated. Good photographs are key! Let me know how you get on. Sandy
